SIMTOM MAKES A BIG IMPRESSION AT
PLMA 2008

This year has been very significant for Simtom in more ways than one. Not only for its national award winning streak, but also for the launch of its brand new 'Restaurant Style' range of Indian foods. The PLMA Amsterdam launch this year drew much interest with some firm client orders as far reaching as Iceland in the north and other key European clients.

Sited in the Food From Britain sector, Simtom took over the same space occupied by Pataks last year. According to numerous customer and stand visitor comments, it would appear that Simtom's elegant and highly impactful stand was a clear favourite by far.

The Restaurant Style and Classic Style products were on display with an endless line of food samplers ready to taste Simtom's on-stand food sampling on the two days of the show.

MD Jai Chandarana commented, "We were quite overwhelmed by this year's response and realised how ready the Indian food market is for an alternative quality offering. Our presence has certainly had some impact on many of the foreign visitors who have not only shown interest, but have moved things on to the next level by engaging us in export negotiations".

MD Jai Chandarana was awarded the 'Asian Wholesaler of the year 2007' award by the Ugandan Asians in Britain organisation. These awards are exclusive to those who have had to start new businesses or make good after the 'asian expulsions' carried out by the late Idi Amin during the 70's. The ceremony was well attended and very moving in parts as many worthy recipients retold their stories of hardship and struggle to re-build families and livelihoods from scratch. A fitting attainment for those who have demonstrated true courage and timeless endurance.
